How many days do you need in Katmai National Park? Even one day will be enough for a trip to Katmai. But it is optimal to stay there for at least 2 nights and 3 days to take advantage of the other activities that Katmai offers.

Bear Viewing in Katmai National Park

Unconnected to any town by road, most people come to Katmai via floatplane or boat from from King Salmon, or floatplane from Anchorage, Homer, or Kodiak. Floatplanes and boats load and unload passengers right along the shore at Brooks Camp.

The park and preserve encompass 4,093,077 acres (6,395.43 sq mi; 16,564.09 km²), which is between the sizes of Connecticut and New Jersey. Most of the national park is a designated wilderness area.
