You will never go back to the canned version of creamed corn after making this quick and easy, absolutely delicious from scratch recipe. Skip the canned versions and make this Creamed Corn! Even people who claim not to like creamed corn (that would be me), love this recipe.

I grew up on the canned stuff. I have never been a fan unless I am using it to make corn casserole (so good, check it out). Then one holiday I tried Skillet Cream Corn, submitted on food.com by KittenCal (@kittencalrecipezazz), so darn good. I can eat a whole pan. A must-try recipe!

Tips for Making Homemade Creamed Corn

  • You can use frozen or canned corn. When using frozen, make sure corn is thawed.
  • If you are serving a crowd (more than 4 people), you will want to double the recipe.
  • This recipe is easy to adapt. You can add heat with jalapeños and cayenne pepper. Crumbled bacon sprinkled on top is great.
  • For less sweet, you can reduce the sugar or leave it out.
  • Be sure to drain the corn well, both canned and frozen (if using steamer corn).

  • fresh cracked black pepper and salt to taste

How to Make Creamed Corn

In a small bowl or measuring cup, whisk milk and flour and set aside.

In a medium size skillet (10 inch skillet), over medium heat – add whipping cream, seasoned salt, pepper, sugar, garlic powder and butter, mixing as the butter melts.

Once butter has melted, stir in corn and then add the milk/flour mixture.

Continue stirring over medium heat, allowing the sauce to thicken and corn to cook through – this takes just a few minutes.

  • 10 ounce bag frozen corn (or canned corn), drained well
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt (or plain salt)
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar

  • 1 Tablespoon butter I use salted
  • ½ cup whole milk
